Golfing and caddie background:
Golfing: Started playing at 11 at Downshire Golf Course in Bracknell (Barry Lane & Tim Barter were assistant pros), never even close to being good enough to be pro even though that was the dream. Played off 1 for about 10years prior to caddying. Caddying: Caddied for Luke Donald at my home course in 2009 when he came to open our redesigned holes, that planted the caddying seed. Took a week off work when the LET event came to The Buckinghamshire near to home, in the 3rd year of that event I caddied for a German girl, Anka Lindner, had an awesome week, got into contention to win & was in a final day group with Karrie Webb (eventual winner) & Christina Kim. I loved it so much that I asked Anka if I could do another event and before that came around 2 months later I had given up my job in IT and decided to give professional caddying a go. Nine years later, have caddied on LET, European Tour, European Seniors (1 win with Phil Golding), Champions Tour, Symetra & LPGA, still here & still loving it.
What do you love about caddying?
Being on a golf course every day, helping somebody else fulfil the dream that I always had. Caddying is the next best job to being a professional golfer.
Interesting caddie story:
As well as having caddied for Luke Donald once, I also played a scratch match with him where he had to birdie the last to half the match.
